About the House

Our goal is to create a supportive and welcoming place for impact-driven people to live. We think that people build better and move faster with the encouragement of a healthy community behind them.

That means sharing space and resources, providing a co-working room for those who want to be out in the open, and being a community hub for causes and networks we value.

We care a lot about open and honest communication and want to live with people who are excited to take ownership and find ways to make the house better.

There are five of us so far (including seasoned community builders and community house veterans). We live in a big ol’ house on the mountain that is surrounded by nature.

About the housemates

Going in no particular order… (with bios we wrote for each other)

For someone who has dedicated their life to solving existential issues, Sam remains the jolliest person you’ll ever meet. Need to find him in the house? Wait 5 seconds and listen for his laugh. Check out his board game wall and try to guess which game he single-handedly created. Want to frustrate Sam? Tell him that something is impossible to achieve.

Sarah is an absolute badass who does everything she does with conviction. Ask her about the climate tech she has dedicated herself to producing at scale. Also ask her about #vanlife, her past relationship with combustion, and your grandma’s recipe that she can likely replicate.

If Gavan is walking around with AirPods, he’s likely learning about issues that matter to him. If you want to win Gavan’s heart, ask him to show you the LED lights he has installed around the house. Kerry is just your average dancing, motorcycling, investing, travelling, tea-enthusiasting, body optimizing, rock climbing, tech developing, board game playing, bad-pun-loving guy. It’s a good thing Kerry rejects labels, because there is no name tag big enough to define him.

Lionel is a man with a plan! In fact several plans, all collated and thoroughly researched. If there’s good work to be done you want Lionel on the job, because there’s nothing he does without thoughtfulness, diligence and kindness. A community builder at heart, Lionel has helped many a house feel like home, including this one.

House Alum 🙃

Arianna is unstoppable. Every day is an opportunity, every idea inspires her, and every new conversation is music to her ears. In word association games, when someone says “Arianna”, people say “ass-kicker!” and “eats chickpeas in a can!” Her pet peeve is walking slower than a jog, and her guilty pleasure is slow internet connections because she’s permitted to stop moving.

Dan is our resident balloon man. A science nerd at heart, Dan has a treasure trove of stories from his years fixing and driving steam locomotives and designing and launching stratospheric balloons. When he’s not building pseudo-satellites he’s rigging up lighting, fixing up the house, installing 3D printers or designing science experiments in the kitchen.

Monday night find Andrew fiercely advocating for one of his union members. Tuesday night find him Dungeon Mastering his DND campaign. Wednesday night find him running the local trivia. Thursday night find him singing his heart out at karaoke. Friday night find him buying crickets for his pet gecko and vinegaroon. Saturday & Sunday find him finally getting some rest!
